When you are a family of outdoorsy people, you follow weather reports pretty religiously on the weekends. My family loves winter and all the fun activities that go along with it….downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, (and ice skating, although I’m not a fan).
That requires a ton of gear that is ever-evolving because our 3 kids just keep growing. Sheesh. <eye roll>
Even though we are very frugal with our purchases (second hand, ski swaps, etc) it still costs a small fortune every fall go prepare for the next winter season of outdoor fun.
o, when we get snow on the weekend, we go outside no matter what!! Unfortunately, living in Connecticut, we don’t get ideal snow conditions. Why are we not living in Colorado yet?
This week we had polar vortex temperatures and around 5″ of snow so this weekend we play….
Cross country skiing on Saturday and downhill skiing on Sunday before Superbowl (hoping that event will keep the crowds away!?)
As our kids get older and decide what THEY like to do it gets more and more difficult to round them all up to do all the outdoor adventures with us. But, it also gives my husband and I a chance to spend some one-on-one time with the kids. Yesterday, we had a cross country adventure with our middle and we had no idea where we were going….but it was peaceful and beautiful.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
