Shiny, Happy Skin

I don’t take good care of my skin in the winter. Ya know, the time of year when it needs the most care. I know I should, but I just keep covering it up with long sleeve sweatshirts, fuzzy socks and yoga pants.

Dry, winter skin is such an issue for me but I know what works if I just take the time to to use it…. Salt Scrubs with oils.

Salt has anti-bacterial properties so it is helpful with keeping the skin bacteria free. Salt scrubs exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells and encourage the growth of new supple skin. The scrubbing even creates friction that helps circulate the blood to give you a healthy, young-looking glow! Bam! So many wins.

The recipe is super simple and not at all time consuming. In fact, I actually mixed up this batch while my dinner was cooking in the instant pot (a delicious Honey Soy Sauce Chicken Thigh recipe that I throw over rice – mmmmmm)

Today I finally made my own. I love to buy salt scrubs, but I tend to hoard them for only special days because of the amount of money I spend on them. But let’s face it, my skin needs this daily!

Coconut Lime Scrub

  • 1 cup Coarse Salt
  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil
  • 10-12 drops Lime essential oil
  • 1 tsp Coconut essential oil
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • Zest of 1 lime

Mix all the ingredients together – fold zest in last. Makes about a pint of scrub. Enjoy!
